The site was cleared for The Astor House, which was then known as the the Fields, where Washington read the Declaration of Independence

The northern part of the Astor House Hotel was torn down to be replaced by The Transportation Building

The Transportation Building was built. One of the first tenants being Pace University

Harry Helmsley purchase the Transportation Building

1983

Current owner purchases the Transportation Building from Harry Helmsley
